who we are
zack
east is the program director for a
mid-west family broadcasting station, rock 107 wirx in st. joseph/benton
harbor, michigan. in addition to providing programming assistance for
the station, he is the imaging director for the mainstream rock
formatted wirx, which is a licensee of the image "everything that
rocks." he is 23 years of age, and has been eating, sleeping and
breathing voice performance since the young age of 15. zack also serves
as a weekend and fill-in personality for sister stations 98.3 the coast
(wcxt-fm benton harbor) and 97.5 y-country (wytz-fm bridgman), and is a
member of the creative services team for mid-west family broadcasting in
michigan's great southwest, providing copywriting assistance, voiceovers
and production services to the company. as a student in high
school, zack began his voice performances by announcing high school
sports...everything ranging
from basketball, to wrestling, to baseball and more. by the remainder of
his senior year, he was reported to have officially announced more than
50 different sporting events over a three year time span. also during
this time, zack frequently job shadowed at a local nbc television
affiliate and received his first exposure to the broadcast arts.
as college came upon him, zack decided to pursue a degree from ferris
state university in big rapids, michigan, where he gradated in may of
2006 with a bachelor of arts in communication and a professional writing
minor. during his tenure from 2002-2006 at ferris state university, zack
worked to rebuild a floundering radio organization on campus and
successfully managed the organization, dubbed "bulldog radio" after the
school mascot. he provided the station with direction, training for
young aspiring broadcasters, and also worked to program the station's
music, provide engineering assistance, and also imaged the hybrid
active/alternative format.
during
zack's college years, he also met rick kogan, a weekend radio host from
wgn-am chicago. kogan presented the opportunity for zack to become a
guest on "the sunday papers" several times, to discuss his progress in
rebuilding the ferris state university radio stations. the largest jump
to date in zack's career was on december 20, 2003, as he was asked by
kogan to become a co-host for a three hour fill-in show on wgn radio. of
course, zack accepted the offer and had a great time with rick
in-studio. recognizing the need for more young voices in the
voiceover industry, as well as a need for a radio-focused service
attitude, zack now offers his services to the general public outside the
south bend/elkhart, indiana and kalamazoo, michigan markets.
